Dream Journal: They Grow Up So Soon *sniff*

Typhoid-infested jungles… freedom-fighting space cowboys… and girls with electric whips.

Just another night in the twisted mind of Lucid Dream Girl…

In the first dream I remember from Sunday night I was in a group of explorers traveling through the jungle. We came to an orphanage in the middle of the jungle where many of the children were sick. Turns out it was typhoid. The woman running the orphanage warned that we might be sick as well and wouldn’t let us leave until we had been checked out.

Shannon was there… When we were finally allowed back in the jungle — where we promptly got lost — she kept urging us in the direction of Robb Roy. That way lay salvation…

Later that night, I was on a spaceship with Glenn T. We were part of a – wait for it – rebel alliance that was working to overthrow a brutal dictatorship. Part of our job was to deliver goods to distant outpost planets that were part of the rebel movement.

At one such planet we picked up a wild orphan teenager girl whose mother had died of drugs. (Social problems caused by the war had resulted in a lot of people like her mother falling through the cracks.)

The girl in my dream looked kind of like this. Except she had two whips instead of one, and they glowed with blue energy. Plus she wasn't dressed as a dominatrix.

Stricken with guilt, I brought the teenaged girl aboard and took her under my wing so she wouldn’t share the same fate as her mother. I tried with little success to teach her how to act more civilized. I also trained her how to use a pair of electricity whips (cool weapons).

When we got to our most distant destination, she decided to stay there which broke my heart. I’d become very attached to her. But she figured she could do more to help with the rebel movement by assisting the people there and so I agreed, proud at her decision.

We were getting ready to leave the planet when she came back for her white knee brace. I was really happy to see her again and was hoping for one last emotional goodbye but with a smile and a wave, just like that she was gone again.

Teenagers.
